Danni slökkviliðsmaður á leið 8

Núna þegar tvær leiðir eru eftir af 12 er Danni  í 7. sæti sem er alveg glæsilegt.

Það kviknaði í fyrsta bíl á 8. leið og Danna ásamt fleirum tókst að koma í veg fyrir að stórbruni yrði í Kielder skógi. Verið er að reyna að útvega ný slökkvitæki í bílana svo hægt sé að halda áfram og klára keppnina.

Það gengur vel þrátt fyrir að hafa sprengt dekk á 1. leið og velt á 4. leið en hann tapaði aðeins mínútu á því.

Danni tapaði miklum tíma á 4. leið þegar hann velti en þeir náðu að ýta bílnum aftur á veginn og klára. Í þetta skiptið prófaði hann að velta á hægri hliðina sem hefur ekki gerst áður.

Þeir eru búnir að vera í vandræðum með aflið og það hefur vantað alveg 40-50 hestöfl en þeir ætla að laga það núna í hádegishléinu.

Það er rosalega gaman og Danni þakkar stuðninginn og sendir knús til Íslands.

BRITISH RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP - STÓRA STUNDIN ER RUNNIN UPP!

 Cronin ahead, but Wilks joins Higgins’ chase

 

The second round of the 2009 MSA British Rally Championship is a mere three weeks after the first nail biting opener in Wales and Irishman Keith Cronin will be keen to keep the momentum after his first win, on the forthcoming Pirelli International Rally on 17/18^th April.  

 

All the crews will need to be on their toes to turn their cars around for the event, which has previously been the start point for the BRC, as Easter also falls between the two rallies. Despite the tight schedule, over forty entries are already on the International list.  Absent from the tussle at the top between Cronin/Greg Shinnors and Mark Higgins/Bryan Thomas, was reigning BRC Champion Guy Wilks, but he and Phil Pugh will be back to try and secure their own hat-trick of wins on the Carlisle based rally. Wilks’ switch to a Proton S2000 will mean an unfamiliar package for the Durham driver.  

 

Seeded at car one as the winner of both the 2007 and 2008 Pirelli International and British Rally Championships, Wilks should add even more spice to the action at the front, the ultra fast Cumbrian stages suiting his smooth yet attacking driving style.  Iceland’s Daniel Sigurdarsson takes the place of Stuart Jones in a Team JRM Lico evolution 10, the 32year-old former Icelandic Rally Champion and BRC newcomer making the move from his regular Evo 9 for the Cumbrian event.  

 

2008 Pirelli Star Diver Adam Gould and Seb Marshall will benefit from previous experience on the event, as will Andreas Sjölander and Håkan Jacobsson, both crews expected to go well after impressive UK 4WD debuts in Wales.  

 

Two Scottish Davids; Bogie and Weston Junior, with co-drivers Kevin Rae and Neil Shanks respectively, will battle for Celtic honours against two Northern Irishmen, the four taking fifth to eighth points on round one.

The Irishmen in question come in the form of Alastair Fisher and Jonny Greer, former BRC and Irish Champion co-driver Rory Kennedy alongside Fisher, with Antony O'Conaill guiding Greer.  

 

British Teams Rally Championship  

 

As leaders in the category, Pirelli TEG Sport drivers Higgins and Gould will be watching their backs for improvements in the JRM Lico Team. Sigurdarsson and Bogie have certainly got a bit of ground to make up, but speed and consistency are required for the Team award.  

 

Unfortunate not to finish the first round, Rob Swann/Darren Garrod and Euan Thorburn/Claire Mole’s Revolution Wheels team will be burning some midnight oil to make the start of the rally. Swann’s car suffered an electrical failure while Thorburn’s introduction to the BRC ended more violently, crashing out on stage three of the Bulldog.

EVO X - búinn að brjóta ísinn?

Allaveganna þá átti evo X einn hraðasta tíma í PWRC um síðustu helgi!

Nú er alveg spennandi að sjá hvort að við höfum veðjað á réttan hest og að hraði þessara bíla muni aukast framúr evo 9 - eða súbaru N14?

Svo kemur í ljós næstkomandi laugardag hvort viðÍslendingar munum keppa í annari umferð bresku meistarakeppninnar um aðra helgi - en það er ljóst að vegna samninga erlendis verður evo X keppnisbíll okkar að keppa þar burtséð frá hver ekur honum. Vegna óvissu um ástand undirritaðs er Stuart Jones skráður til keppninnar á bílnum okkar - en hann átti upphaflega aðeins að aka malbiksumferðirnar í BRC til að skila reynslu og þróun til þeirra sem standa að þessu ævintýri okkar.

Við munum koma með fréttir af þessu eftir helgina.

Trelleborg rallý - "okkar" menn klára í 6 sæti.

 

 Um síðustu helgi fór undirritaður út til svíþjóðar til að vera til halds og trausts fyrir nýja eigendur af EVO 9 keppnisbíl okkar síðan í fyrra - en þeir voru að þreyta frumraun sína og fyrstu kílómetra í bílnum eftir kaupin.Fyrir keppnina var bíllinn almálaður í gráum lit og snyrtur að sænskum sið.

Það voru um 200 áhafnir sem skráðu sig í rallið - en aðeins var pláss fyrir 144 bíla þannig að vel þurfti að skera niður skráningarnar (væri nú stuð að sjá slíkt á Íslandi).

Jocke og Rickard voru með kunnulegt rásnúmmer - 33 - en það númer virðist rata oft á þennan bíl.

Í stuttu máli þá kláruðu þeir í sjötta sæti - sem verður að teljast ásættanlegt fyrir þá félagana. Bíllinn sló ekki feilpúst alla keppnina en þeim tókst nú samt að klessa aðeins bæði frambretti bilsins.

Það var annar félagi Magnus Andersson  -  sem sigraði keppnina rúmlega mínútu á undan "okkar" mönnum.

Annars var mest gaman að sjá hvað svíarnir ná að kreista spikfeitu og klunnalegu volvoana sína áfram - - alveg magnað að sjá volvo 240 með 300hö mótor.

Stuart Jones - fréttatilkynning

Stuart Jones takes podium on British Championship return. Welshpool based Stuart Jones experienced more than his fair share of dramas, including a time consuming roll, en route to taking a strong podium on last weekends Bala based Bulldog International Rally of North Wales. 24 year old Stuart and his co-driver Andy Bull were originally intending to contest the rally in a brand new Mitsubishi Evo 10 but when the building of the car was delayed the pair arranged to hire an international specification Evo 9 from Gilles Philips Motorsport. With the car being unfamiliar and the deal only arranged earlier in the week Stuart had little time to test but knew that he had to push from the start of the first stage. Whilst young Jones was immediately on the pace, a puncture three miles from the end of the opening stage, Dyfnant, cost thirty seconds and put the former Peugeot super cup Champion on the back foot. A very quick time through the second stage saw the Team JRM Lico Mitsubishi return to service in fifth position, and only 32 seconds off the lead. The pair then left service with the aim of regaining a podium position and even with a small roll on stage four, which caused minimal damage, the young talent was able to fight to the finish, eventually returning to Bala in third position overall!  I was frustrated after picking up a puncture on the first stage, and after pushing on Stage 2 and matching the leaders, I realised the gap was too big to challenge for the overall win. We were then driving for third position, when a misheard pacenote caused a small roll, resulting in a further loss of over a minute. Luckily the damage was only superficial and we were able to take third position. Having not driven on gravel since the 2008 Pirelli International Rally, I was really happy to finish on the podium. Now all we have to do is finish building the Evo 10 and find the budget for the rest of the year! The Rally Insurance, PIAA, Rallytech and Nunns Mitsubishi of Grimsby supported pairing will next be in action on the Pirelli International Rally on the 18^th of April. They are confident of debuting their new JRM Lico run Mitsubishi Evo 10 on that event, the second round of the 2009 MSA British Rally Championship.
