Alþjóðarallið 2007 - Lítið um erlendar áhafnir

Góðan daginn.

 

Nú styttist óðum í langstærsta rall ársins hérlendis - en dagana 16-18 ágúst verður alþjóðarallið haldið í 28.sinn.

Mörg undanfarinn ár hefur allt að helmingur keppenda verið erlendis frá en því miður lítur út fyrir að færri komi í ár. Mestu munar um breska herinn - sem hefur verið að senda allt að tíu jeppa árlega hingað til keppni. Vegna alkunns hernaðarbrölts Breta þá hefur þeim verið meinuð þáttaka í ár. Mikil eftirsjá er í þeim - þó sér í lagi Alans Paramore - sem keppt hefur einna oftast allra keppt í rallinu. Hann kom hingað til lands í fyrra með geysilega öflugan Súbarú og leiddi keppnina þegar hann velti bílnum með miklum látum á leið um Heklu.

I trust you are well and that you are looking forward to the Rally?

Due to operational commitments in the Middle East and a current dictate from the Military hierarchy which has seen the Team put on what we hope to only be a temporary ban from competition, we will sadly not be able to join you this year.

The Team has every intention of rejoining the Reykjavik party in 2008 and will continue to work to that aim. Tryggvi has been trying his best and doing a great job to unblock all of the operational issues for us if we were able to get competitively un-banned by our bosses but we are now out of time and there is no change of heart on the horizon from the Chairman of the Armed Forces Motoring Association.

Best of luck on the event and I am so sorry that it will not be a repeat of last year’s automotive battle between us.  I will look forward to watching your progress on the internet.
